American Share Insurance

Founded in 1974 and chartered in Ohio, American Share Insurance (ASI) is a private, not-for-profit cooperative that provides primary share insurance to state-chartered credit unions. As an alternative to federal insurance provided by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF), ASI insures individual member accounts up to $250,000 per account, with no limit on the number of accounts insured per member. The company is owned by the credit unions it insures and is regulated primarily by the Ohio Department of Insurance. Its mission is to provide a safe and sound insurance fund while maintaining a competitive and innovative spirit.
