American Physicians Service Group (APSG)

Founded in 1975 and headquartered in East Lansing, Michigan, American Physicians Service Group, Inc., through its subsidiaries, was a prominent provider of medical malpractice insurance. Operating primarily under its parent company, American Physicians Capital, Inc. (NASDAQ: ACAP), the group focused on offering liability coverage, risk management consulting, and claims services to physicians, dentists, and other healthcare providers, mainly in the Midwestern United States. In 2010, the company was acquired by The Doctors Company, the largest physician-owned medical malpractice insurer in the nation. Following the acquisition, APSG's operations and policyholders were integrated into The Doctors Company.
