Founded in 2015 by Dr. Richard L. Sandor, the American Financial Exchange (AFX) is a self-regulated electronic marketplace serving banks, broker-dealers, private equity firms, and asset managers across the United States. Its mission is to provide a transparent, liquid, and efficient platform for these institutions to lend and borrow short-term funds. AFX is notably the home of the AMERIBOR® benchmark, a transaction-based interest rate benchmark that reflects the actual borrowing costs of thousands of small, medium, and regional banks, serving as a key alternative to LIBOR.
