Akimbo Financial

Founded in 2010, Akimbo Financial, Inc. operated a consumer-facing platform offering the Akimbo Prepaid Mastercard®. The service was designed to help users manage their finances by allowing them to create and fund multiple "sub-cards" tied to a primary account, which could be used for specific budget categories, allowances for family members, or sharing funds. The card was issued by Sunrise Banks N.A. Akimbo was acquired by Paymentus in 2021, and the Akimbo Card program was officially discontinued for all users on March 31, 2023.
