AdBlue is not a company but the brand name for a diesel exhaust fluid (DEF). The trademark is owned by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), which ensures the quality and standards of the product, specified as ISO 22241. Numerous chemical companies and fuel distributors are licensed by the VDA to produce and sell the product under the AdBlue name. The fluid is injected into the exhaust stream of modern diesel vehicles, where a chemical reaction converts harmful nitrogen oxides into harmless nitrogen and water.
